The Future of ControllerX

Hey everyone 👋

Since the release of ControllerX V1.5, the app has evolved far beyond its original idea. What started as a simple way to move your mouse with a controller has become a full-featured, cross-platform desktop companion — supporting Xbox, PlayStation, and even off-brand controllers, complete with media and browser integration.

Now that the foundation is solid, it’s time to look ahead at what’s coming next.

More Buttons, More Control

The next update, V1.6, will introduce support for the RT / LT / L2 / R2 triggers as configurable buttons.
You’ll finally be able to assign actions to every trigger, expanding how flexible ControllerX can be for navigation, playback, or other system tasks.

Dark Theme Mode (Future Goal)

A Dark / Light theme toggle is currently in development.
This will let you switch between a modern dark interface and a bright, clean look — depending on your setup or personal preference.
It’s taking some extra time to implement properly, but it’ll make ControllerX feel more polished and customizable.

RGB Controller Support (Future Goal)

Another feature on the wishlist is RGB lighting integration for supported controllers — imagine the LED on your gamepad reflecting your active profile or system state.

To make this happen, I’ll need to test with an actual RGB-enabled controller, which I don’t currently own.

Thinking About Steam

As ControllerX keeps growing, I’ve started considering a Steam release in the future.
That would make it easier to install, update, and discover, while keeping the same lightweight, privacy-friendly design the app has now.
